Today we will talk about Sprinkler Irrigation system.

I hope you already know the basics of Sprinklers as the name suggests. In case you are unaware of it don't worry I am going to start from the basics.

In this post I will let you know about the types of sprinklers, crop wise system suggestions, advantages of sprinklers etc.

There are basically five types of Sprinkler which we used in Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Landscaping etc.

1. Micro Sprinkler

2. Mini Sprinkler

3. Portable Sprinkler

4. Raingun Sprinkler

5. Lawn or Garden Sprinkler

I will explain all these sprinkler types one by one.

1. Micro Sprinkler

Micro sprinkler is commonly used in nurseries. This system can be installed at a distance of 3mtr to 5 mtr line to line and sprinkler to sprinkler according to nursery plantation. Discharge of this sprinkler is 40 to 150 LPH. I suggest you to use these sprinklers in all kind of nurseries. This system can save up to 70% water as compared to open irrigation. One common benefit in all sprinkler system is that you can save on water, electricity and labour  cost with improved crop quality and increase in yield. 

2. Mini Sprinkler

Mini sprinkler is commonly used in Vegetable crops, floriculture, wheat, Paddy (DSR Technique) etc.

This sprinkler can be installed at a distance of 10 mtr to 10 mtr. Discharge of this sprinkler is 400 to 600 LPH. This sprinkler is widely used in field crops. You need to install this sprinkler after sowing crop and lift this system before harvesting of crop. Its handling is very easy. Height of this sprinkler is 4ft. One thing you have to remember that don't use any kind of sprinkler during pollination period of crops. 

3. Poratble Sprinkler system

Portable sprinkler is widely used in field crops. As its name indicates, these sprinkler can be shift from one field to another. This sprinkler is used with HDPE coupled pipes. This sprinkler can be install at a distance of 12 mtr to 12 mtr. Discharge of this sprinkler is 1500 to 2000 LPH. Height of this sprinkler is basically 4ft. 

4. Raingun Sprinkler

Raingun is used in all type of crops. The raingun can be installed at a distance of 20 to 35 mtr. Diameter of raingun which is commonly used will cover a 40 to 70mtr area. Discharge of raingun is 12K to 20K LPH. Raingun can be used with HDPE pipes and Hydrants. 

5. Lawn or Garden sprinkler

Lawn or garden sprinkler used in all type of lawns and Gardens. If you have a lawn at home you must use these sprinklers. You can irrigate your lawn within minutes. It will save water as well as electricity. You can save your time also. These sprinkler can be installed at a distance of 3 to 15 mtr. Discharge of these sprinklers is 200 to 1500 LPH. These sprinklers will install at below level of grass. When you start water pump these sprinkler will come up and irrigate your lawn and when you stop water pump sprinklers will go down. It is very interesting and beautiful system.
